Tis the season to be jolly, unless you’re traveling, that is. With load factors hovering around 85%, airports and planes will be extremely crowded during the holidays. Drivers are getting an early holiday gift - according to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline was $3.16, down from $3.30 a year ago. The downside to this is that this week’s Consumer Pulse found that more people will likely do their holiday traveling by car this year (77%) than in the past (62%).
According to this week’s Consumer Pulse, 28% of respondents plan to travel for the holidays this year. Some highlights from this week’s Holiday Travel report include:
• 32% of holiday travelers will fly.
• 41% say that a shortage of money is a reason for not traveling.
• 83% of holiday travelers will spend time with family and friends.
Whether you stay home or head out, we wish you peace and joy for the holidays. The Consumer Pulse will return after the first of the year, rested and ready for another year of fresh insights!
